How Can I Help My Child Manage Screen Time?

What is that one responsibility parents have today that our parents and grandparents didn’t have?

It’s helping our children manage their screen time.

Kids today are losing their ability to focus and concentrate because of prolonged screen use. As parents, we can’t just take the screens away—we have to replace unproductive time with productive time.

A simple routine that really works is designating one or two hours in the evening as “No Screen Time.” During that time kids should do something that builds focus and concentration instead of scrolling.

Some wonderful activities include:

  • board games

  • jigsaw puzzles

  • Legos

  • Magnatiles

  • knitting

  • coloring

  • drawing

  • building things with their hands

These hands-on activities strengthen focus, problem-solving, patience, and concentration—skills that are essential for school success.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. Just consistent.

At SparkBrain Learning it is our primary goal to teach our students consistent habits for success that help them build focus, concentration and most importantly critical thinking skills.

Advancement of technology doesn’t mean the end of human ability to think and create. It should be only the beginning of our growth and development as we learn how to navigate AI as a way to help us and not hurt us.

We are here to help your children. We offer instructions in improvement of critical thinking, reading, writing, math and study skills. Please reach out at 718-790-8911.
